In this exhibition, “Ephemeral,” Carlos observes the art and culture of the Indonesian island of Bali and its magnetism, working on the implied concept of impermanence, which the viewer can approach through a contemplative observation of aesthetic anthropology.

Created from a stand of respect for traditional culture and craftsmanship as focus. Balinese dances and offering materials are explored. Their visual ritualistic impact is reviewed and interpreted into contemporary artworks. Each embodies a strong sense of place and ecological source, combining sculpture with weaving, or paper-folding kirigami.

An underlying statement of ecological awareness, glimpsing the intrinsic balance of beauty as something threatened by uncontrolled modernity's unperceptive and steady drip, highlights the disappearance of traditions and invites the viewer to reflect rather than possess.

Serene and poetic, it´s a silent protest of the artist against a crushing truth of cultural oblivion, a constant topic of discussion.
