(Bust + Crown) edition: Unique
Human Frame
Size: 75 H x 110 W x 45 D
Medium & description
Art Deco-inspired raw terra-cotta bust with a headdress woven in rattan, bamboo, and recycled glass beads.
The second piece titled “Human Frame” contrasts with the first one like a mirror in time.
It consists of a raw terracotta bust depicting an ambiguous ethereal woman with no defined features, and a headdress, woven and intertwined with rattan, bamboo, and glass beads, producing an exquisitely abstract and whimsical form between a shielding helmet and a geometrical tree stem.
This imagined form intertwined in its roots between a crowned dancer from the Javanese court of the glorious past and a medieval warrior reminiscent of Joan of Arc.
An open conversation about the position of women in traditional culture, being the breadwinner as a warrior of the family base and simultaneously reinventing her feminine idea, all this amid a patriarchal reality rooted in tradition and an ultramodern vision, still blurred by gender and freedom.
